Watermelon Project

Team Affiliation:
University of León
Type of Challenge:
RoCKIn @Home Challenge
Short Team Description:
Watermelon Project team was originally created by the group of robotics at the University of Leon in 2012. In 2013 it was expanded with the addition of Robotics Group at the Rey Juan Carlos University. Our original goal was to prove that a platform could be created using low-cost materials and that could be used as a starter kit for robotics researchers in competitions like RoCKIn or other endeavours. To this end we built the MYRABot platform. Now, in RoCKIn 2015, we are going to participate with a new robotic platform called RB1. This platform is a mobile manipulator robot manufactured by Robotnik. With this robot we are going to contrast our hypothesis. We are moving the previous software approaches to RB1 to validate if the solutions modelled in MYRABot can be used successfully in a non-low-cost platform.
